what the f*ck is wrong with these people? Every time they send a refurb, it costs them at least $30-$50 in overnight shipping and indian sweatshop phone center labor to handle the calls. Wouldn't it be cheaper to just send me a brand new one? I mean wtf?

Hey guys, there have been a stories recently about the E74 error message that I wanted to address. The team is aware that a very small percentage of our Xbox 360 customers have reported receiving an error that displays E74 on their screen and after investigating the issue, we have determined that the E74 error message can indicate the general hardware failure that is associated with three flashing red lights error on the console. As such, we will be covering any repairs due to the E74 error message under the three year warranty we announced related to the three flashing lights error, as well as reimbursing any customers that have already paid for an E74 related repair. This applies to new consoles for the original retail purchaser, whether purchased before or after this change. You can read additional information on the warranty extension on the Xbox.com support site. Today’s announcement reaffirms our commitment to customers that we stand behind our products and deliver a great Xbox experience.

Got the RROD, bought the fix from Canada, took the box apart and replaced the 4 pads on the chips. Worked great for 2 more months and now the RROD is back. I'm screwed. I've been banned from xbox live for years but I did download about 30 games for free and burned to double layer discs. I never had it repaired by xbox because of the mod. Time to buy a new one.

Lets hope she is right | | | | | |

The refrigerator would be recalled, you would be refunded your money or be able to apply a credit toward the purchase of a different model of refrigerator and would be reimbursed for the spoiled food. If not, the refrigerator company would get sued in a second.
People would not accept the same model refrigerator back knowing the design wasn't fixed correctly and that their food would spoil again.
If a million people bought a fatally flawed $400 console, and all their media, games and access to their purchased service subscription were unavailable, why should they accept a replacement of the exact same model only to know it would fail again.

This means when I sent in MY console, I get someone elses that was sent off for repairs for some unknown reason and "repaired" and then sent to me, in which it ultimately fails again.
Could you imagine if you took your car in for repairs and the dealer just gave you another one just like it that someone else had owned or God forbid it was a rental...

If they Keep sending you new ones, then there is an obvious failure in the system. If they keep repairing the same one, then they Suck at it.
I've had my console sense Last June. I've had a few Temporary ride lights, that come up after a power failure and such, but I fear that the True Read Ring of Death is coming to my Xbox 360 soon :/

I can assure you, the damn thing just sits there standing up, on the floor, with 2 feet of clearance around it, or in this last case, in an XBOX 360 PYLON I GAMING STATION (licensed by Microsoft no doubt).
I love the xbox360 platform and the games and xbox live, its the 30+ days of downtime it takes to get a new console everytime the crappy refurbed one they send me dies again. Its a pain in the ass when you pay $400 for something and it friggin dies every couple of months. I have had 3-4 months of downtime without a console waiting for a replacement due to crappy quality control or testing that was done on microsoft's behalf.
My orignal console had a manufacture date of Oct 06, the second was Mar 07 and the 3rd one was June of 06. Obviously, I got back some crappy refurb 1st run edition that was someone elses and God knows what they did to it (or on it, or in it) and now its mine? It died while watching a video, i wasn't even playing a game....
That, is utter crap, they should either repair my original or give me a new one.

i guess a case posted on blogs makes them look cool for handling. write on your 360 and have it erased. i hear it's the new thing they're responding to. :

I don't believe the RRoD thing has a fix, otherwise MS would've fixed it by now (one would think). Even the new hardware revisions has RRoD issues. They rushed it to the market half baked, now they can't fix it without breakling compatibility. My opinion might be biased though, as I'm a PS3Wii owner/fanboy. ;-)
Unless original Xbox counts, which still runs, but I hate MS for stop supporting it like 3 years into it's lifetime.
